This composition is inspired by the traditional turkish piece 'Gotke ay Misun'. I have used the G Dorian #4 mode and wholetone scale throughout to reflect the modal music from turkey and the balkan region. The composition is in 7/8, and I have made use of palindromes in this piece. In the A section, the subdivision is 3-2-2/2-2-3, and in the B section, the subdivision is 2-2-3/3-2-2. The C Section is subdivided as 3-2-2 and the 3-2-2/2-2-3 palindrome subdivision returns with the A2 section. The piece is in a quasi-rondo form, with a recurring ‘tag’, see bars 13-14, clarinet part for the first instance, tying the piece together.
